Halfway between Washington, Dc and Columbus, Oh- my good friend and co-worker Andrew got into a discussion about why we run. I don’t necessairly know why I run, but I know where running has taken me. Chicago, Dc, Columbus and San Diego. A few years ago, my girlfriend at the time raised money to run a Team in Training race for charity. This was her first marathon. Though we aren’t together, I was and still am to this day proud of that accomplishment for her. It may have been when we split that I found myself in limbo. 25 with no purpose or direction, I needed to find solace. Suddenly, running and intense workouts became a way to forget about all that was going on around me. A few years later and embarking my 5th half and 1st full marathon, I find it funny how I ended up down these roads. I’m very blessed to have a support system that I do which has encouraged my running exploits. I have never felt better about myself, and for once have direction. In this the first BIG marathon weekend with races taking place in NYC, LA, Atl, DC amongst others, I wish everyone good luck.
-until next time…
