Just another lunch break here in Marysville, checking out some twitter updates including the NBA playoffs and more importantly, yesterday’s 114th running of the Boston Marathon. Now, just as I am nearing the cusp of my first marathon ever, I’m actually starting to feel nervous. That little pit in your stomach that won’t quite go away no matter how many times you attempt to push your thoughts to your subconcsious. Have the past seven years of struggles and more importantly the last three led me to 5/2/2010? Will it be my day of reckoning? A breakthrough? I hate to lose. Period. Worse than anything. But, even I conceede that I’m noy going to win this thing. That’s a given. I guess the battle lies within myself. I’ve talked to a lot of people who have run marathons. They all say one common thing: you’ll find out what you’re made of. I suppose if that happens, I’ll take a small victory home with me.

April 6, 2010

Well, now almost a full week into April, I just booked my hotel room in downtown Cincinnati for the Flying Pig Marathon. I feel like my training has been on-point for the most part and that I will be peaking at the right time. As for my history with running, it is now 2 year old affair of which I have become infatuated. I recently contacted the Track and Field coach at my alma mater, Wittenberg University to see if I could obtain an old track jersey to wear for the run. Kinda odd, but if you’ll remember, it was during indoor track season of my Sophomore year that I realized I had started on an unhealthy path. I genuinely think I’m trying to come full-circle with this whole marathon thing, I also think when I finish it will show a fairly significant accomplishment in my lifetime. Maybe I should just shut up :) Hopefully this quick lunch hour post stirs up some reasons as to why you run. What are they?

Until next time-
MJR
